The Mohaka River and Bell rock

––– Two days: two journeys

Mohaka River is set in the heart of the Kaweka Forest Park and is my favorite walk in Hawke's Bay. This track to the Mangatainoka hot springs promises dramatic and majestic scenery and winds through native podocarp forest and lush river meadows.
Bell Rock is an awe inspiring trek with wow factor at every turn. The bird life is plentiful and includes Tui, Bell bird and Kereru.

Day one

Travel to Hawke's Bay from where ever you call home and stay with us at our water front Mojo accommodation, Westshore, Napier. On the first night an evening meal created by Pia can be arranged for you or transport will be provided to any of the myriad of specialty restaurants or wineries around the city.
After a breakfast and a briefing about the day we pick up coffee from Crazy Good and set off up toward the Kaweka's to the entry to the track. At the half way point or as we exit the trail we relax in the natural hot springs and enjoy their restorative effects.
Returning home to Napier we gather for a gentle stretch. For dinner this evening we provide fresh and local ingredients for you to cook for your selves if you wish.

Day two

Day two begins with a sunrise yoga session on the beach and breakfast served on the deck before we head out to Boundary stream and the entry point to our second journey for the weekend.
This dramatic and uplifting trail is a gentle rise up onto the Maungaharuru (mountain rumble) range to reach our destination where we view magnificent ancient lime and sandstone layered rock structures and panoramic views of the region. We are free to stop at any point to picnic on our packed lunch and a cup of tea returning to our van at the starting point to the walk.
We will be home again in Napier by mid afternoon to relax for a further night or to travel home with our Mojo's restored.
